Michaela Hertkorn graduated with an M. A. in Political Science from the University of Heidelberg. She holds a Ph. D. in Political Science from the Institute for International Relations and Regional Studies of Free University Berlin. In 1999, Michaela was a pre-doc fellow at the German American Center for Visiting Scholars, then based at the German Historic Institute in Washington, DC. Other research affiliations followed with the Center for German and European Studies of Georgetown University from 1999 to 2001, a post-doctoral fellowship with the American Institute for Contemporary German Studies of Johns Hopkins University in 2000 / 2001, and with the Center for European Studies at NYU from 2001 to 2003.  


Michaela’s expertise covers transatlantic relations, NATO, EU foreign and security policy, as well as conflict and security studies.

 

Dr. Hertkorn is an experienced public speaker, widely published in print and online media. Her commentaries range from oped pieces to commentary, analyses on contemporary global issues.

 

Michaela has been an associate with the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy in Arlington, VA since 1997. She served as member of the Executive Council of the Center for WWII Studies and Conflict Resolution at Brookdale College, Rutgers University. She has taught at the following universities:
